Construction of a 5,500m2 four level research building comprising offices, consulting, laboratories, chemical and cell culture rooms, cold and cool rooms. Specialised areas for medical research incorporates “physical containment” laboratories, phlebotomy room, clinical trials room, pre/post PCR labs. Building services are extensive and includes specialised items such as laboratory gases, fume cupboards, BMS and a RO water system. The PC3 lab was built to attain zero pressure loss testing and built out of double skinned insulated stainless steel panels.
The building is of concrete framed structure with load bearing block walls, steel roof framing covered with metal deck roofing. The building is clad externally with precast concrete feature panels, glazed curtain walling and Apolic cladding. Extensive sun shading is incorporated using architectural rolled and elliptical louvres.
